Frequently Asked Questions

How do I get my insurance set up?

If you have insurance included in your scheme:
We aim to make it hassle-free to get on the road and out there enjoying your EV. We work closely with our partner, Lloyd Latchford Insurance Group, to make sure that your insurance is up and running from the day of your delivery.

Lloyd Latchford will reach out to you by email a few days beforehand and confirm all the details with you. It's important you respond to this as soon as you can. Shortly after delivery, your insurance certificate will be emailed to you.

In a small number of cases, like if you get a car on speedier delivery, your EV might arrive before Lloyd Latchford have been able to get in touch. If your car has been delivered and you haven't already spoken with Lloyd Latchford, please reach out to them as soon as possible to confirm your details (and any named drivers) and car registration number. Please don’t drive your car until the insurance is all set up and Lloyd Latchford Insurance Group have confirmed that you are ready to hit the road.

You can contact them on salarysacrifice@lloydlatchford.co.uk or 01844 276498.

If you don't have insurance included in your scheme:
You’ll need to organise insurance cover and send us a copy of the policy documents at least 7 days before your delivery. Your insurance needs to be fully comprehensive and you'll need to keep this updated for the duration of your lease, as well as send us any additional policy documents.

How do I get a charger installed, or charge on the go?

You can view the options Octopus Electric Vehicles offer and get your home charger installed by expert Octopus engineers. Find out more here.

If you are looking to charge on the go, sign up to the Electroverse before your delivery so you can order your Electroverse card allowing you to access the entire network.

How will my car be delivered?

Whether your car is to be delivered or collected is down to the dealership that is handling your order. Either us or the dealership will get in contact with you closer to your delivery date to confirm the details, and you can discuss which works best.

If your car is being delivered to your home address, it will usually arrive via a transporter and you'll be contacted throughout your delivery day by the team at Octopus Electric Vehicles and the dealer. We'll get your car delivered free of charge to any UK mainland address, either home or business.

How do I get my free charger or free public charging credit?

If you've chosen to get a free home charger, we'll send you an online application form for your free Ohme ePod (untethered) charger a few weeks before your car's delivered. We’ll take care of the whole process with our sister company, Octopus Energy Services, including a remote survey and installation. If installing your electric vehicle charger is more complicated than our standard installation, it may cost extra to get you set up. We'll give you a quote for any extra work before we go ahead.

Check out our home charging page for more information on how the charger installation process works.

If you're looking to charge on the go, you can get your Electroverse card and download the app before your car's delivered.

If you've chosen to get 4,000 free miles of public charging credit instead of the free home charger, we'll send you a code after your car's delivery which you'll just input on the Electroverse app to load up your credit. You can download the Electroverse app before your car arrives to get familiar with it.

What should I expect on delivery day?

When you receive your brand new EV, it’s important to know what to expect.

All deliveries will come with a basic explanation of how to use your car, an Octopus Electric Vehicles Driver Pack and a charger. It’s up to the dealership how your car is delivered but it could be driven or come on a transporter.

About 40% of deliveries are driven because they’re faster, more efficient and better for tricky roads. Because of this, your car may have some miles on it and a bit of dirt.

If you’ve got any questions about the condition of your EV when it’s delivered, feel free to get in touch with someone in our team.
