Mel's Electric Adventure in the Audi e-Tron

We’ve been lucky enough to take part in Mel’s Electric Adventure, a new podcast from Tortoise Media about the exciting world of EVs.

Each episode, one of our EV experts takes a drive with actress, comedian, TV presenter, and National Treasure, Mel Giedroyc, and Tortoise Media’s World Affairs Editor, Giles Whittell.

In episode 1, “Launch Control", you’ll hear Mel, Giles, and our Head of Procurement, Alvin Castillo, carpooling in a brand new Audi RS e-tron GT - the fastest electric Audi on the road.

• The Audi RS e-tron GT Carbon Vorsprung is the fastest electric Audi that you can drive. It's the meanest and the leanest, and features launch control - a secret you won’t want to keep.
• The engine sounds on the Audi e-Tron are all artificial. It took Audi engineers two years to come up with the internal and external engine sounds, and uses about 50 different noises to create the sound - ranging from a banging on a plastic pipe, to an electric screwdriver, to a helicopter.
• The Audi e-Tron GT does 0 - 62 mph in 3.2 seconds, has a top speed of about 155 miles an hour, and costs around £135,000 to buy outright.
• To initiate launch control, put both feet down on the accelerator and brake at the same time. Once you take your foot off the brake, the car will give you 120% power to launch forward at massive speed. Make sure to put your head back before you go!
