Terms and conditions: Lease of nearly new (used) cars
Definitions
“Financing”
Encompasses all forms of vehicle finance; salary sacrifice schemes, business contract hire, and personal contract hire.
“Octopus Electric Vehicles”
Means Octopus Electric Vehicles Limited with company number 10754317, specialising in the financing and supply of electric vehicles, selling domestic, destination and workplace charge points, and providing salary sacrifice schemes, with its registered address at 33 Holborn, London EC1N 2HT. Octopus Electric Vehicles Limited is authorised and regulated by the Financial Conduct Authority, registration number 809736, registered address 33 Holborn, London, EC1N 2HT.
“We”, “Us” and “Our”
In each case refers to Octopus Electric Vehicles.
"You" and "Your"
In each case means the leaseholder.
“Nearly new”
Means cars that are under four years old that have been used as demonstration cars, company cars or former leases. All cars have under 60,000 miles on the clock and have been refurbished to our standards.
"Our refurbish standards"
We are supplying a used car which will have an acceptable level of wear and tear in line with its age and mileage. This is defined as follows:
Exterior
- Covered:
- All dents are repaired
- Bodywork and paintwork is free from any rust and tarnishing.
- Slight surface scratches are polished. If the scratch is through the paint, this will be retouched to match the original colour and not necessarily repainted
- Plastic parts are colour matched in line with the manufacturer's original standard
- Mirrors are free from any cracks or distortion
- Windscreens that are chipped or cracked are repaired or replaced. If there's damage to the interlayer of the windscreen like discolouration or any water on the inside, the windscreen will be replaced
- Not covered:
- Superficial body work stone chips. In line with BVRLA Fair Wear and Tear standards, chips of 3mm are acceptable, as long as not rusted - with a maximum of 4x on panels, 6x per door edge and 8x on the forward facing panel

Tyres and Wheels
- Covered:
- Tyres will come with a minimum depth of 3mm in total across the whole width of tyre (compared to 1.6mm legal limit)
- Cars will be provided with the car manufacturer's standard or equivalent tyres and in line with mileage on the vehicle
- Wear will be even across all tyres, with no signs of abnormal wear
- Tyres will be free from lumps, bulges, sidewall cracking, tread distortion, cuts, punctures or tears
- Not covered:
- Alloys will be free from major damage, such as dents, but minor scuffs of up to 50mm are acceptable. This is so we don’t replace wheels / alloys unnecessarily, causing waste
Interior
- Covered:
- Where possible, interior trim damage is repaired, and seats are cleaned
- Signs of excessive wear and tear are conditioned or refurbished
- Cars are free from burns.
- All cars are clean and odourless
- Cars come with clean mats
- Where applicable, cars come with a parcel shelf in good condition.
- Where necessary, a new car pack is fitted
- Not covered:
- Small amounts of loose stitching on the steering wheel or seats is acceptable
- All cars come will come with one key
General / good to know
- All cars will go through a full valet before delivery
- Vehicles will be driven to be delivered, and therefore may have a few hundred miles more on the odometer, than in your signed quote
- Where needed, another valet will be completed on route
- Vehicles will be delivered with 50% charge
- Vehicle will come with a charging cable (Type 2 to Type 2)
- If the car doesn’t come with a parcel shelf, it is likely the rear windows are tinted (to prevent people seeing in) and therefore the car doesn’t come with a parcel shelf
- It’s important to look around the vehicle when your vehicle is delivered, and note down any damage with the driver, before signing the handover document. This means you won’t be charged by us at the end of the contract
Terms and conditions
- The cars will meet our refurbished standards outlined in these terms and conditions.
- On delivery, our representative will carry out an inspection report and it’s your responsibility to fully check the car inside and out to check it’s in good condition and that the specification is as ordered. It’s your responsibility to make sure any damage or missing options are noted on the inspection report before you sign it.
