Removing your personal data
Handing back your car? You’ll need to remove all your personal info and belongings from it first.
If you’re not sure how to remove your information from the car (for example, your contacts, addresses, and app connections), no problem - we’ve popped some links and simple instructions for different EV manufacturers below.
If you can’t find your make and model here, please check your vehicle handbook or with the manufacturers directly. Some manufacturers like Mercedes and Polestar, have relevant guides for just this.

Audi
1. Log into the myAudi app or website
2. Select the Vehicle selector From the Vehicle tab at the screen's top.
3. Select the + button on the top right of the screen.
4. Identify the vehicle to delete, press down and swipe left.
5. In the message that displays, select "delete vehicle"
BMW
If your BMW uses Operating System 7:
1. Click Car Menu > Settings > General Settings > Reset Vehicle Data
If your BMW uses Operating System 8:
1. Click Menu > System Settings > Reset Vehicle Data
Please note: In vehicles with a production date from 11/2020, the vehicle will be removed from your BMW ID in the My BMW App and My BMW portal after resetting to factory settings. You can see individual guides on their YouTube channel.
Hyundai
You’ll need to reset Bluelink to factory settings via the infotainment system:
1. Go to Bluelink in the settings
2. Select Deactivate Bluelink
3. Reset to factory settings
If you have connected your smartphone to your vehicle, you must also cancel or terminate your Bluelink subscription via the Bluelink App:
- In the Bluelink App, go to My Account
- Select Terminate My Account

Tesla
1. Log out of your Spotify account
- How? Spotify -> Home -> Sign Out (bottom of the page).
2. Log out of your Netflix account
- How? Tesla Theatre -> Netflix -> Sign Out
3. Clear PIN to Drive
- How? Controls -> Safety & Security -> PIN to Drive
4. Go to settings on the Tesla touchscreen. Tap the link to enter your Tesla login details and follow the instructions on screen.
5. Clearing Valet PIN Mode
- How? Activate Valet PIN Mode through the driver profile icon on the touchscreen.
6. Complete a factory reset
- How? Touch Controls > Service > FACTORY RESET. Before erasing, Model 3 verifies your credentials by prompting you to enter the username and password associated with your Tesla Account.
A Factory Reset will clear the following personal data & restore customised settings to their factory defaults: Map Data, Energy Logs, Saved addresses, Phone data, Music favourites, Homelink settings etc.

MG
1. Open the iSmart App
2. Go to the Remote Control page
3. Click on your Registration at the top of the screen (this should be in the format ‘REGISTRATION >)
4. Enter the Vehicle Management screen
5. Click Unbind
Jaguar
You’ll need to remove the car from your InControl account:
1. Log in to My Jaguar InControl
2. Go to the Vehicle Settings tab
3. Press the Remove Vehicle button
