Looking for a new EV? It’s always worth looking at what’s selling well right now.
Perhaps it’s their value for money. Perhaps it’s their next-level cabin tech. Perhaps it’s the fact that they look cool and are a blast to drive. Whatever it is, there’s something that’s drawing people to them – and that’s worth investigating further.
Leaders of the pack
(Data from our own sales over July, August, and September 2025)
OMODA E5
Key features
- Comfortable, spacious cabin
- Great range of tech for the price
- Up to 267 miles of range
Need a spacious, do-it-all family SUV that doesn’t break the bank? The OMODA E5 is pretty much unbeatable when it comes to getting the most bang for your buck – it’s no wonder that they’re flying off the forecourts.
The E5’s spacious interiors accommodate everything you’d need and more, whilst offering a premium SUV feel that’s hard to find at this price point. Comfortable, easy to drive, and equipped with a full infotainment system, it’s perfect for both longer trips and everyday driving.
Mercedes EQB
Key features
- AI-enhanced multimedia system
- Burmester surround sound system with Dolby Atmos
- Up to 324 miles of range
Stylish exterior. Premium upholstery. Tasteful mood lighting. The EQB ticks all the right boxes for a luxury SUV, whilst remaining a remarkably practical pick for a family car. Whilst there’s space for up to six passengers, the footprint never feels too unwieldy for everyday driving.
Inside the cabin, you’ll find Dolby Atmos surround sound and a next-level multimedia system, powered by Mercedes’ Zero Layer AI technology. This offers augmented-reality navigation, an onboard voice assistant, and an interior assistant you can operate with hand gestures. Neat.

Volkswagen ID.3
Key features
- Futuristic AR ‘heads up’ windscreen display
- Voice assistant with ChatGPT
- Up to 369 miles of range
The Volkswagen ID.3 is a well-designed hatchback that’s perfect for comfortable, everyday driving. It’s surprisingly roomy in the back for a hatch, making it an ideal family car for those looking for something more compact in a market awash with chunkier SUV designs.
Tech-wise, the ‘heads up’ windscreen display is a real hit – it makes key info (including directions) immediately more visible and accessible. The ID.3 also comes packed with safety features, including pedestrian and cyclist monitoring and a driver fatigue monitor – it's five-star Euro NCAP.
Tesla Model Y
Key features
- Spaceship aesthetics
- Plenty of gadgetry
- Up to 372 miles of range
Originally released in 2020, the spacious Model Y continues to impress with a futuristic exterior (that single-strip body panel tail light makes it look like something out of Star Wars), a gadget-packed cabin, and a range of autonomous driving features.
The Model Y is a particularly strong choice for longer trips, thanks to top-notch soundproofing, a state-of-the-art sound system, and high-definition touchscreens front and back to keep the kids entertained. With V2L and Netflix access, it’s even a good camping option!
Renault 5
Key features
- Onboard ‘reno’ voice-activated assistant
- Easy cabin personalisation with smart, 3D-printed modules
- Up to 250 miles of range
The Renault 5 combines an iconic silhouette with poppy colourways and a customisable, gadget-heavy cabin that punches well above this hatchback’s entry-level price point. Retro-chic car design at its finest.
Whilst the Renault 5 is primarily designed as a city car, it’s no slouch performance-wise. You’ll get up to 250 miles off a single charge, whilst some smart design choices create a smooth ride with agile handling.

Any exciting new EV releases on the horizon?
Plenty – expect some new names, and the return of an old favourite, in EV form.
JAECOO is one of the latest Chinese EV manufacturers to make a splash in the UK. Its upcoming J5 EV is set to turn heads thanks to some serious Range Rover vibes – at a fraction of the cost.
There’s also a lot of buzz around the Geely EX5, from the parent company of Polestar. It’s a mid-size SUV priced just over £31k but brimming with tech – heated and ventilated seats, extending leg rest, even a massage function. Luxury at a mainstream price.
And, alongside these newer faces, we’ve also got our eye on the upcoming launch of everyone’s favourite supermini, the Nissan Micra, in EV form.
(Ah, remember being 17, squeezed into your mate’s gran’s cast-off Micra for that first summer road trip…) We’re super excited to see how Nissan has adapted this classic car for new generations and new audiences. Given it’s based on the same tech as the Renault 5, the signs are promising.
