The operator of the EV Angels Directory is Octopus Electric Vehicles Limited (‘Octopus Electric Vehicles’, ‘Octopus EV’, ‘we’, ‘us’, ‘our’) (company number 10754317), whose registered address is UK House, 5th Floor, 164–182 Oxford Street, London, W1D 1NN. Octopus Electric Vehicles Limited is authorised and regulated by the Financial Conduct Authority under firm reference number 809736.

These Terms and Conditions apply to participation in the EV Angels Directory pilot. By registering as an EV Angel or requesting a connection as an EV Curious user, you agree to be bound by these Terms and Conditions, in addition to Octopus EV’s general Website Terms and Privacy Policy.

1. Program Overview & Scope 

1.1 The Program is an experimental pilot operated by Octopus EV to facilitate informal, peer-to-peer knowledge sharing between existing electric vehicle owners ("Angels") and prospective or new EV drivers ("EV Curious"). 

1.2 The Program provides a searchable online directory and a connection mechanism.

2. Volunteer Status and Scope of Advice

2.1 Independent Volunteers: Angels act purely in an independent volunteer capacity. Angels are not employees, agents, commercial representatives, or appointed advisors of Octopus EV. 

2.2 No Regulated Financial Advice: Angels share personal peer experience only. They must not provide advice or recommendations regarding Octopus EV finance or leasing products, tax, insurance, or credit eligibility.

2.3 Official Enquiries: Any queries regarding Octopus EV lease contracts, salary sacrifice schemes, vehicle orders, billing, or official hardware support must be directed to official Octopus EV Customer Support at hello@octopusev.com or 020 3389 5959.

3. Personal Data & Public Directory 

3.1 Personal data provided during registration will be processed in accordance with the UK General Data Protection Regulation (UK GDPR) and the Data Protection Act 2018. 

3.2 Directory Display: By opting in, Angels explicitly consent to Octopus EV publishing designated profile fields (first name, town/city, EV model, short bio, and home charging setup) on the public EV Angels directory. 

3.3 Contact Sharing: Contact details (such as email addresses) will only be shared or relayed when a specific connection request is initiated. Participants must keep all contact details received through the Program strictly confidential and use them solely for EV Angels conversations.

4. Remote Communications & In-Person Exclusion 

4.1 Remote Scope: The Program is strictly intended for digital, remote communications (e.g., email or proxy messaging) only. Octopus EV does not organise, sanction, endorse, or facilitate physical meetings, coffee chats, or private vehicle test drives. 

4.2 Assumption of Risk: If participants independently choose to meet offline or conduct vehicle demonstrations, they do so entirely at their own risk and outside the scope of the Program. To the fullest extent permitted by law, Octopus EV accepts no liability for any loss, damage, injury, or dispute arising from offline interactions.

5. Code of Conduct & Prohibited Behaviour 

5.1 All participants must adhere to the EV Angels Community Code of Conduct set out here. The Code of Conduct forms part of these Terms and Conditions.

6. Monitoring, Reporting & Termination 

6.1 Reporting Concerns: If you encounter inappropriate conduct or misuse of personal data, notify Octopus EV immediately at evangels@octopusev.com. 

6.2 Right of Removal: Octopus EV reserves the right to investigate reports, suspend or remove any participant from the directory or platform, and alter, pause, or permanently terminate the Program at any time without notice.

7. Limitation of Liability & Indemnity 

7.1 Exclusion and Limitation of Liability: Nothing in these Terms excludes or limits Octopus EV’s liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, fraud or fraudulent misrepresentation, or any liability that cannot be excluded by law.

Subject to the foregoing, to the maximum extent permitted by law, Octopus EV shall not be liable to any participant for any direct, indirect, or consequential loss, damage, or harm resulting from:

• Reliance on peer-to-peer statements, tips, or advice provided by Angels;
• Misuse of contact details or personal data by other participants; or
• Any offline interactions conducted outside the scope of the Program. 

7.2 Release and Indemnity: You agree to defend, indemnify, and hold harmless Octopus EV, its affiliates, directors, and employees from and against any third-party claims, liabilities, damages, losses, and expenses (including reasonable legal fees) arising out of or in connection with:

• Your breach of these Terms or the Community Code of Conduct;
• Any offline meetings, vehicle test drives, or interactions arranged by you in breach of Section 4;
• Your unauthorised use or disclosure of another participant's personal data. 

8. Governing Law and Jurisdiction 

8.1 These EV Angels Terms, and any dispute or claim (including non-contractual disputes or claims) arising out of or in connection with them or their subject matter or formation, shall be governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of England and Wales. 

8.2 The courts of England and Wales shall have exclusive jurisdiction to settle any dispute or claim arising out of or in connection with these EV Angels Terms. (If you are a consumer living in Scotland or Northern Ireland, you may also bring legal proceedings in your local courts).

The EV Angels program connects existing electric vehicle owners ("Angels") with prospective or new EV drivers ("EV Curious") to share real-world experience and practical tips.

To keep this community safe, secure, and helpful for everyone, all participants - both Angels and EV Curious users - must uphold this Code of Conduct when using the platform, directory, or messaging services.

Be Welcoming, Respectful, and Inclusive

• Civility First: Treat every participant with courtesy, patience, and respect.
• Zero Tolerance for Misconduct: Harassment, abusive language, discriminatory remarks (based on race, gender, sexuality, disability, age, or religion), personal attacks, or intimidation will result in immediate termination of access.
• No Defamatory or Unlawful Content: You must not post, share, or transmit material that is unlawful, obscene, defamatory, or infringes on anyone else's intellectual property or legal rights.
• Safe Space for Beginners: EV technology, home charging, and tariffs can feel overwhelming to newcomers. No question is "too basic"; encourage curiosity and offer supportive, jargon-free answers.

Be Authentic & Honest (No Impersonation)

• Act in Good Faith: Communicate honestly and in good faith. Do not lie, misrepresent your background, or pretend to be someone else.
• No False Qualifications: Angels must not claim or imply that they are official Octopus EV representatives, certified vehicle technicians, qualified electricians, or licensed financial advisors.

Keep It Peer-to-Peer (No Selling or Self-Promotion)

• Non-Commercial Zone: The Program is strictly for informal knowledge sharing. You must not use the platform, directory, or connection tools for sales pitches, commercial lead generation, business advertising, or recruitment.
• No Referral Links: Do not share affiliate links, referral codes, or promotional materials (e.g., energy provider referral codes or charging hardware discounts) in chats or profile bios.

Share Personal Experience, Not Professional Advice

• Personal Experience Only: Information shared must represent personal owner experience only.
• No Financial or Regulatory Advice: Do not present yourself as providing professional tax, regulatory financial, leasing eligibility, or contractual advice.

Respect Privacy & Protect Data

• Protect Contact Information: Personal details shared via the EV Angels directory or email exchanges (such as names, personal email addresses, phone numbers, or exact locations) must be kept strictly confidential.
• No External Sharing or Harvesting: Harvesting personal data, adding participants to marketing mailing lists, or posting private conversations on social media is strictly prohibited.

Maintain IT Security & System Integrity

• No Malicious Code: You must not attempt to transmit software viruses, worms, Trojan horses, or any code designed to interrupt, destroy, or compromise the platform, messaging system, or other users' hardware.
• No Scraping: Automated scraping, data extraction, or bulk downloading of the EV Angels directory is forbidden.

Digital-First & Safety Boundaries

• Remote Communications: EV Angels is strictly designed for digital, remote communications.
• Offline Boundaries: Octopus EV does not organise, sanction, or facilitate in-person meetings, coffee chats, or private test drives.
• Respect Boundaries: Never pressure another participant to meet in person, exchange personal details, or grant physical access to personal property or vehicles. If participants choose to meet offline independently, they do so entirely at their own risk.

• Respect volunteers' personal time and response availability.
• Keep questions focused on real-world EV ownership and usage experience.
• Do not use the service to request private test drives, home visits, or commercial favours.

We rely on our community to help maintain a positive, safe environment.

• Reporting Misconduct: If you encounter inappropriate conduct, harassment, spam, unauthorised commercial activity, or misuse of personal data, notify Octopus EV immediately at evangels@octopusev.com.
• Enforcement & Removal: Octopus EV actively monitors platform usage and investigates all reported breaches. Octopus EV reserves the absolute right to issue warnings, suspend directory listings, or permanently ban any participant from the platform without prior notice.
