Salary sacrifice charging offers
As part of taking your first EV with Octopus EV, through salary sacrifice, we offer you…
The “At home package”:
A free home charger: a free home EV charger of those we make available to you, with a standard installation, and;
A specialist Octopus Energy tariff & up to 4,000 miles of free energy to charge your EV: we’ve partnered with Octopus Energy to offer our EV drivers access to a specialist tariff, the Intelligent Octopus Go - EV Saver tariff. This is a version of the Intelligent Octopus Go tariff, with the added benefit of a 1p saving on the off-peak energy rate.
We’ll also include up to 4,000 miles of energy, provided in the form of an energy credit added to your Octopus Energy bill once you switch to any of our EV tariffs; Intelligent Octopus Go, Intelligent Octopus Go - EV Saver or Octopus Go. This equates to a £60 energy credit which, if charging off-peak, can provide enough energy to charge your EV for up to 4,000 miles worth of driving.
Renewal customers will only be eligible for a charger if they have not already received one as part of their first contract with us.
OR
The “On the road package” - up to 4,000 miles of free public charging in the form of Electroverse credit: up to 4,000 miles worth of EV charge in the form of public charging credit through Electroverse. This equates to £600 Electroverse charging credit.
These offers are subject to the terms and conditions noted below.
At home package
A free home charger
Home charger with a standard installation
The free home charger offer only applies to certain chargers with a standard installation, more information on what a standard installation includes can be found here. The chargers eligible under this offer may change from time to time, we can advise you as to which are available or you can find more information here.
If you fall outside of a standard installation or want a different charger, you will be quoted directly for any additional costs by Octopus Energy Services, our sister company who manages the installation.
If your charger is installed before your EV arrives, and you then cancel your EV order, you will be liable for the full cost of the charger and installation.
We cannot guarantee that the charger installation will occur before delivery of your vehicle, and installation lead times can be up to 16 weeks.
If you are not able to charge your vehicle from home or opt out of the “At home package”, we will instead offer up to 4,000 miles of credit on Electroverse as part of our “On the road package” (details below).
Octopus Energy tariff & up to 4000 miles of energy
Access to the Octopus Energy Intelligent Octopus Go - EV Saver tariff, exclusive for Octopus EV drivers
This is a version of the Octopus Energy Intelligent Octopus Go tariff, with a 1p saving on the off-peak rate, exclusive to Octopus EV drivers. To be eligible for this tariff you need to be an Octopus Energy customer on the Intelligent Octopus Go tariff. From your Octopus EV ‘My Account’ you can request to switch to the new EV saver tariff. Once requested, it can take up to 7 days for Octopus Energy to switch you over. If you don’t have a ‘My Account’, you will find a link to the switching form in your emails.
Up to 4,000 free miles of energy
Once you’ve successfully joined Octopus Energy and switched to either the Intelligent Octopus Go - EV Saver tariff; Intelligent Octopus Go tariff or Octopus Go tariff, a credit of £60 will be applied to your Octopus Energy account.
This credit amount (£60) is calculated based on charging your EV during the off-peak window on the Intelligent Octopus Go - EV Saver tariff as follows:
It assumes an efficiency of four miles of range per kWh used (but this varies depending on your EV), so 4,000 miles requires 1,000 kWh of energy, and as it costs 6p per kWh to charge your car during the off-peak window on the Intelligent Octopus Go - EV Saver tariff, this is £60 of credit.
For comparison, if you are not able to switch to the Intelligent Octopus Go - EV Saver tariff, and instead you switch to the Octopus Go tariff:
- We will also credit you with £60 of credit.
- The cost on this tariff to charge during the off-peak window is 8.5p per kWh
- So the credit of £60 will get you an estimate of 2,824 miles (calculated as £60 divided by 8.5p, multiplied by four - the miles of range per kWh assumed).
On the road package
Up to 4,000 free miles with Electroverse
Electroverse gives EV drivers access to public chargers across the UK and beyond with one card and app, with zero set up costs or ongoing access fees. You don't need to be an Octopus Energy customer to use Electroverse.
Once you’ve successfully signed up to Electroverse, the credit code we provide you with will allow you to redeem £600 of credit through your Electroverse account. The credit we give you can only be used in the UK unless you already have a linked Octopus Energy account. This is because our credit is in pounds and can't be changed to another currency.
The credit amount (£600) is calculated based on charging your EV at public charging stations as follows:
It assumes an efficiency of four miles of range per kWh used (this will vary depending on what EV you have), so 4,000 miles requires 1,000 kWh of energy. Based on an average network cost of 60p per kWh* to charge with Electroverse, we will provide you with £600 including VAT in the form of credit on your Electroverse account.
*The 60p/kWh average network cost is calculated as followed:
- As of 18/07//2024, there are 57,000 connectors on the Electroverse network, of which:
- 83% are slow/fast chargers up to 9kW (average cost of 55p/kWh)
- 30% are rapid/ultra chargers up to 350kW (average cost of 79p/kWh)
- The cost of your charge will depend on the chargers you use, and how regularly you use them.
- This assumes regular charging will take place on slow & fast chargers (such as at lamp post chargers), with some rapid charging taking place when you are driving a longer journey. An average cost of 60p/kWh is based on using a mix of chargers on the Electroverse network.
Please note: These calculations are correct at time of publication but are subject to change if energy prices change on Intelligent Octopus Go - EV Saver, Intelligent Octopus Go, Octopus Go, or with Electroverse.
These offers are subject to the following:
If electing for the ‘At home package’, you must have or be able to install an eligible home EV charger. We will make available to you information about which EV chargers are eligible before you select your lease.
See the charging installation terms and conditions here.
We will provide the free home charging credit on your Octopus electricity account once you have successfully switched to either the Intelligent Octopus Go - EV Saver tariff, Intelligent Go tariff or Octopus Go tariff.
Please note that switching to one of these tariffs and/or having a charger installed may take some time, and will depend on whether you are already an Octopus Energy customer, and whether you already have a smart meter and compatible EV charger installed.
If for any reason you are not able to have a smart meter installed and therefore are not able to switch to one of the eligible Octopus Energy tariffs, we may at our discretion provide you with the £60 Octopus Energy credit. This is subject to you being an Octopus Energy customer and is at our absolute discretion. Please note that this would not constitute a reason to cancel your vehicle free of charge, or return the car without penalty.
Name and address on the lease and energy account must be the same, or you must be able to prove that you cohabit with the person named on the energy account.
Please note that the Intelligent Octopus Go - EV Saver tariff is exclusive to Octopus Electric Vehicle lease customers, and this tariff and offer cannot be redeemed by anyone else or across multiple households. Customers should not share their switching link with anyone else, and if found to be doing so, may be removed from this tariff at our discretion.
Nothing in these terms prevents you from switching energy provider or tariff at any time during your EV lease term. However, to get the energy credits with the “At home package” you must be supplied by Octopus Energy on the Intelligent Octopus Go - EV Saver, Intelligent Octopus Go or Octopus Go tariffs for the credit to be applied.
If electing for the “On the road package”, you must sign up for an Electroverse account in order for the credit to be applied.
